DCM Shriram has successfully commissioned its second 300 TPD caustic soda flaker unit at its flagship facility in Jhagadia, Bharuch, Gujarat. This milestone, achieved on March 31, 2025, further cements the company’s expansion and technological innovation.
With this new addition, the total capacity at the Bharuch site has now reached 900 TPD, making it the largest single-location producer of caustic soda flakes in the country. The plant mirrors the design of the unit commissioned in October 2024 and comes equipped with a flexi-fuel system, allowing multiple fuel choices.
Caustic soda, also known as sodium hydroxide, is a key industrial chemical with widespread applications across sectors like textiles, pulp & paper, alumina, soaps & detergents, petroleum refining, and water treatment. It is typically available in two forms—liquid (lye) and solid (flakes). The flaker format, preferred for exports due to its ease of transportation, plays a vital role in global trade.
DCM Shriram is currently the second-largest producer of caustic soda in India, with an overall installed capacity of one million metric tonnes per annum. The company continues to strengthen its presence in the chemicals sector through strategic investments and capacity expansion.
