Tejas Networks and Intel have collaborated to bring Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) technology to Intel-powered laptops, a step poised to transform digital education in India. This innovation enables the broadcast of educational content—including live TV, video, audio, and messages—directly to devices without needing Wi-Fi or internet access. The data is transmitted through terrestrial broadcast airwaves, making it ideal for rural and remote regions where internet connectivity is limited.
The laptops will feature Intel processors and an integrated antenna, combined with Tejas Networks’ Saankhya SL-3000 SDR chipset, making them fully equipped to support D2M capabilities. This move aligns with India’s Make in India and Design in India initiatives and contributes toward the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
In addition to laptops, Tejas Networks is also rolling out network infrastructure and software to support the nationwide deployment of D2M services. This platform allows simultaneous delivery of educational content tailored for various grades, languages, and curriculums, all without relying on mobile data.
These D2M-enabled laptops are set to be showcased at the upcoming WAVES 2025 summit, underlining their potential to revolutionize content delivery and bridge the digital divide in education. With this, India is not only advancing in broadcast innovation but also laying the foundation for a more inclusive digital future.
