Hyundai Motor India has shared its expectations for strong growth in the electric vehicle (EV) market over the next few years. The company believes that the passenger EV market in India will double in the next two years, reaching around 1,00,000 units annually. This forecast is based on the growing demand for cleaner and more energy-efficient vehicles across the country.

Hyundai India is also preparing for the launch of the Creta Electric SUV, which will be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo. The company hopes that this new model will cater to the increasing interest in EVs among Indian consumers, particularly in the popular SUV segment.

The company predicts that the penetration of passenger EVs in India will rise from 1.7% to 2.4% over the next two years. This is in line with the government’s push for greener alternatives and the growing availability of EV charging infrastructure. By 2030, Hyundai expects this figure to increase further to 7%, showing a clear shift towards electric vehicles as a more common choice for consumers.

Hyundai’s management has pointed out that 2026 could be a key year for the EV market in India. By then, all major car manufacturers are expected to have launched electric vehicles, which could drive a wider acceptance of EVs among Indian buyers. The increased competition and product offerings will likely help accelerate the transition to electric mobility, as more options become available to meet different customer needs.
