Apollo Tyres has officially taken over from Dream11 as the jersey sponsor of the Indian cricket team, covering both men’s and women’s teams across all formats. The new partnership, which lasts for two and a half years until March 2028, marks a significant upgrade in both value and visibility for Apollo Tyres.
The shift comes after the government banned betting-related apps, including Dream11, under the “Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025.” This regulation prohibits any person or company from offering online money gaming services or advertising them directly or indirectly, forcing the BCCI to terminate its contract with Dream11.
Under the new agreement, Apollo Tyres will pay ₹4.5 crore per match, which is higher than Dream11’s previous rate of ₹4 crore per match. For the full contract duration, the deal is reportedly valued at ₹579 crore, significantly above the previous ₹358 crore arrangement with Dream11. The sponsorship encompasses 121 bilateral games and 21 ICC events, ensuring broad exposure during India’s busy international cricket calendar.
BCCI officials have hailed the deal as a “landmark partnership.” Secretary Devajit Saikia and Vice-President Rajeev Shukla emphasized that the collaboration goes beyond commercial terms, representing a partnership between institutions that enjoy the trust of millions of fans. Shukla also noted that the competitive bidding process highlights strong market confidence in both the BCCI and the Team India brand.
Apollo Tyres, headquartered in Gurugram, is a global tyre manufacturer with production facilities not only in India but also in Europe. This partnership provides Apollo Tyres with major visibility on a global stage, associating the brand with India’s most beloved sport.
Strategic Implications:
- The sponsorship enhances Apollo Tyres’ brand presence among millions of cricket fans globally.
- By replacing a gaming-based sponsor, the BCCI aligns with regulatory compliance and ethical standards.
- With a higher per-match payment, Apollo Tyres signals its commitment to sports marketing and long-term association with cricket.
- The deal spans a busy international calendar, ensuring high visibility across bilateral and ICC events.
