Reliance Jio has partnered with Google to give its 482.7 million users free access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, Google’s top AI (Artificial Intelligence) model, for 18 months. The plan, worth ₹35,100, is one of the biggest free AI offers ever seen in the world. Both companies say this step is part of their shared goal to “democratise AI in India”, meaning to make AI tools available to everyone, not just experts or big companies.
The offer will first be available to Jio users aged 18–25 through the MyJio app, and later it will be extended to all users. To claim it, users simply need to open the MyJio app, look for a banner reading “Pro plan of Google Gemini FREE”, and register. Once they register, they will receive a confirmation message that says their request has been received and that the team will contact them soon with further steps.
According to The Times of India, this partnership supports a larger digital inclusion mission shared by both Reliance and Google. The companies believe that giving free access to powerful AI tools can help improve education, creativity, and productivity, especially among India’s young population. It can also help more people learn how to use modern AI technology in their studies, jobs, and daily life.
Gemini Pro, also known as Gemini 2.5 Pro, is part of Google’s Gemini AI family, which includes Nano, Pro, and Ultra versions. These models are multimodal, which means they can understand and work with text, images, video, and audio together, almost like a human assistant that can see, read, and listen at the same time. The Pro version includes several advanced tools and benefits. Users get higher limits for creating images and videos using Google’s creative models, access to advanced AI models like Nano Banana and Veo 3.1, expanded tools such as Notebook LM for study and research, and 2 TB of cloud storage for saving their files. These features make Gemini Pro a complete and powerful AI tool for students, professionals, and creators.
Apart from this free plan for users, Reliance Intelligence, a division of Reliance, will also use Gemini Enterprise to build AI agents for businesses. These will include Google-built as well as third-party AI tools, helping companies use AI in their daily operations. Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman of Reliance, said, “Reliance Intelligence aims to make intelligence services accessible to 1.45 billion Indians, to make India not just AI-enabled but truly AI-empowered.” Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, said, “This partnership will put Google’s AI tools in the hands of consumers, businesses, and developers across India.”
The timing of this launch is also important. It comes just days after OpenAI announced free access to ChatGPT Go for Indian users starting November 4, 2025, and after Airtel partnered with Perplexity AI earlier this year. The Times of India called these efforts part of a larger movement to make AI affordable and easy to use for everyone.
The Jio–Google partnership also continues their long relationship, which began with the JioPhone Next and other digital projects. Together, they aim to build an AI-powered India where every person, student, and business can use AI tools easily. For Jio users, this means a chance to try premium AI tools worth tens of thousands of rupees for free, a move that could greatly increase AI use in India’s fast-growing digital economy and help the country move closer to becoming a global AI leader.
