A Bank of America (BoFA) survey conducted in early November 2025 among over 1,000 Indian users provides fresh insights into quick-commerce and food delivery trends. In the quick-commerce segment, Blinkit emerged as the primary platform for 31% of respondents, ahead of Instamart (19%), Flipkart Minutes (14%), and Zepto (12%). Multi-app usage is prominent, with 53% using Blinkit, 48% Flipkart Minutes, 45% Amazon, 43% Zepto, and 41% Swiggy Instamart. Consumers leverage these platforms for full-month grocery stock-ups (40%) and unplanned or impulse purchases (37%), citing delivery speed (35%) and discounted offers (22%) as key motivators. Blinkit and Zepto primarily cater to planned and unplanned needs, while Swiggy Instamart focuses on top-up and impulse shopping, reflecting nuanced consumer behavior.

In the food delivery space, Swiggy leads nationally with 33% primary preference, slightly ahead of Zomato (29%), while around 20% of users report equal usage of both apps. Regional trends show Swiggy dominating South India (42%) and metro areas (34%), whereas Zomato leads in West India (37%) and East India (31%). North India shows near parity with Swiggy at 27% and Zomato at 24%, and beyond Tier-1 cities, users show roughly equal preference. The survey also highlights increasing ordering frequency, with 54% reporting higher usage over the past six months and only 11% ordering less.

The findings suggest that India’s quick-commerce market is maturing, with consumers demonstrating platform-agnostic behavior and strong multi-app engagement. For players in this sector, speed, availability, and pricing remain critical differentiators. In the food delivery market, Swiggy’s national lead points to strong app positioning and service quality, while Zomato retains regional dominance. Overall, both sectors show rising adoption rates, increased impulse purchases, and multi-platform usage, indicating opportunities for operational scaling, targeted marketing, and strategic expansion in India’s dynamic online delivery ecosystem.

The survey has limitations, including a modest sample size of just over 1,000 respondents and a focus on primary app preference, without capturing spending patterns, order value, or churn. As a result, while the insights provide a valuable snapshot, trends may shift quickly in India’s rapidly evolving quick-commerce and food delivery markets.

Blinkit is India’s preferred quick-commerce platform, while Swiggy leads in national food delivery, with regional and multi-app usage patterns shaping consumer behavior.
