CONCOR and Indraprastha Gas Forge Partnership to Develop LNG Infrastructure for Sustainable Logistics

In a significant move towards sustainable logistics, Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR) has partnered with Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) to develop Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Liquefied Compressed Natural Gas (LCNG) infrastructure at select CONCOR terminals. The initial focus will be on establishing these facilities at the Dadri terminal in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.

The collaboration aims to replace diesel-powered vehicles with LNG-powered ones, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting eco-friendly transportation solutions. LNG trucks emit significantly lower levels of pollutants compared to their diesel counterparts, contributing to improved air quality and aligning with global sustainability goals.

Beyond refueling infrastructure, the partnership also explores the feasibility of transporting LNG via railway rakes from terminals near seaports, such as Dahej in Gujarat, to various destinations across India. This approach seeks to integrate cleaner energy sources into the broader logistics network, enhancing operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.

As part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), CONCOR and IGL will jointly examine the possibility of replacing existing diesel-fired engines with LNG-fired engines at various terminals. This initiative underscores the commitment of both organizations to embrace innovative solutions that not only enhance operational efficiency but also align with environmental sustainability objectives.
