Reliance Industries, through its subsidiary RISE Worldwide, has taken a 49% stake in the English cricket franchise Oval Invincibles, while Surrey retains 51% ownership. As part of this partnership, the team will be rebranded as MI London starting from the 2026 season for both men’s and women’s squads. This move is a key step in Reliance’s ongoing strategy to expand its global presence in franchise cricket, connecting the legacy of Mumbai Indians (MI) to England’s The Hundred tournament.
The acquisition is strategically significant for both parties. For Reliance, MI London represents an extension of its successful MI brand, which already includes teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and other international franchises. By entering The Hundred, Reliance strengthens its global cricket footprint, enhances fan engagement, and leverages its commercial expertise in franchise management. For Surrey and The Hundred, partnering with a strong global investor like Reliance adds credibility, professional management, and long-term brand value growth for the franchise.
